When we sing,
we change who we are.
When we change who we are,
we change the world.

Interim Artistic Director

Steve Weston has returned to MCC as our interim Artistic Director for the Spring semester 2017. We are delighted to be singing with him again, as we did in Fall 2015. Steve is assistant conductor for both Divisi and Vox Nova Chamber Choir. Originally from Bangor, he holds a Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Maine and went on to study composition at New Mexico State University. Having conducted a range of youth and adult choruses, he currently is the Music Director at Unitarian Universalist Church in Belfast.

MCC Founder

Mimi Bornstein is a professional choral director, song leader, pianist, singer, composer, and workshop and worship leader. Her work embraces the healing and transformational elements of music, often focusing on the powerful journeys we take when we sing together in community. Mimi has worked in both the public and private school sectors, churches, and community music organizations. Her work has expanded to include traveling as a performer, guest conductor, workshop and worship leader and consultant at churches, community gatherings and retreat centers nationwide.

Ms. Bornstein has served on the Board of Unitarian Universalist Musician’s Network, where she helped design and launch a national Professional Credentialing Program for church musicians and she has served as a mentor, adjudicator and teacher for this certification program. A noted composer, Mimi’s work has been published in a number of collections, and many of her pieces have been performed on the national and international levels.

Choruses under the direction of Ms. Bornstein have performed locally and nationally with noted musicians including the Grammy Award-winning Paul Winter Consort, and Maine’s own Paul Sullivan.
